Kashmir Great Lakes Trek

Kashmir Great Lakes trek is a mesmerising trekking expedition of approximately 72kms that a trekker covers in a period of 7 days.

The Kashmir Great Lakes Trek transports you to a divine, never before seen side of Kashmir evocative of its nickname, Heaven on Earth. This is the only trek in the Himalayas that packs three high altitude passesfive river valley crossings sporting seven alpine lakes, each an astonishing shade of green, blue and turquoise, all within an impressive span of 7 days!

How to Reach

By Air :-
Most major air carriers like Indian Airlines (www.indian-airlines.nic.in) Jet airways (www.jetairways.com) and Indigo operate daily flights to Srinagar. Reaching Srinagar by flight from New Delhi is the most convenient way.

By Train :-
Jammu is the nearest railway station to Srinagar, which is at a distance of 290 km. Jammu railway station is well connected to all major cities in India by rail. Direct train services are available from Delhi, Chennai, Bangalore and Trivandrum.

By Bus:-
Srinagar is linked by the National Highway 1A to the rest of the country. J & K state road transport operates comfortable buses from Jammu. The Journey takes about 10 hours to reach Srinagar.

Trek /Tour fee Payment:
The fee can be paid by online by payment gateway/UPI Transfer. When your transfer is done, please share us a Snapshot of Transaction ID with your transfer details, so that we can follow up your reservation efficiently on what’s app/mail.

 Refund Policy

  • The applicable refund amount will be processed within 10 business days
  • All applicable refunds will be done in original payment mode used to made payment.

Booking Confirmation Policy

  • The customer receives a confirmation voucher via email within 24 hours of successful booking.
  • This is a non transferable voucher
  • In case the preferred slots are unavailable, an alternate schedule of the customer’s preference will be arranged and a new confirmation voucher will be sent via email. In such case alternatively, the customer may choose to cancel their booking before confirmation and a full refund will be processed.

Advise

It is always advised to offload your backpack at the base camp or base village and carry only the essentials with you to trek. Keep your baggage to a minimum, otherwise, your body will start rebelling within the very first hour of the trek.

Day 1-Drive from Srinagar to Sonmarg ( Four Wheeler)

We will arrange your transport from TRC Srinagar to Sonmarg which is a short drive of around 2 hours. Its picturesque drive from Srinagar to Sonmarg which takes around 2 hrs but prior to that you can make a short trip to famous places of Srinagar like Dal Lake, Mughal Gardens etc. Reach Sonmarg by evening and stay in tents ahead of Sonmarg our trek starting point and enjoy the beauty of Sonmarg at its best. Pickup Cost one side extra.

Day 2-From Sonamarg to Nichnai (Height 7,800 feet to 11,500 feet | Distance 11 KM)

Today is the actual start of the Kashmir Great Lakes Trek just few kilometers ahead of Sonmarg. The trekking tail starting point is marked by a nice roadside Dhabha where one can buy packed food items for the trek. The trekking tail follows the Sindh River through the forest full of Maple and Pine trees. After trekking for few hours turn around to see the superb panorama of Sonmarg valley.

Day 3- From Nichnai to Vishansar Lake via Nichnai Pass.( Height 11,500 feet to 12,000 feet via 13,100 feet | Distance 12 KM)

Trek from Nichnai to Vishansar Lake is long but a scenic one , it passes through beautiful lush green meadows then small ascent to Nichnai Pass and from small descent to Vishansar Lake. The best part of Kashmir Great Lakes trek is that views it offered to trekkers. We cross Nichnai pass which is quite wide open and offer great views of white snow clad peaks.

Day 4- Exploration day. ( Height 12,000 feet )

The day is free to explore the Vishansar Lake and its surroundings which just few minutes away from our campsite. The must things to do in Kashmir Great Lakes Trek are to capture the reflections of mountain peaks in the lake. We will conduct a basic photography workshop “Stop Shooting Auto”. Also explore the nearby Kishansar Lake which is also big and deep blue in color.

Day 5-Vishansar Lake to Gadsar via Gadsar Pass. ( Height 12,000 feet to 12,000 feet via 13,500 feet | Distance 10 KM)

After breakfast we will start our trek passing by Kishansar Lake towards Gadsar Pass and to reach there it takes around 2 to 3 hours depending upon your pace and once you reach the top, be ready to absorb the views which you can never imagine both the Vishansar Lake and Kishansar Lake are in full view together. Gadsar is one of the most beautiful and most pristine lake of the Kashmir great lakes trek. On one side of the Gadsar lake lies the snow clad cliffs and on the other side open lush green meadows.

Day 6-Gadsar to Satsar. ( Height 12,000 feet to 12,000 feet| Distance 9 KM)

Start the trek with breathing exercise and nice breakfast beside the army camp. The best way to reach Satsar is after crossing the river and enjoys the dipping of your feet in ice cold water. Satsar is basically a collection of 7 lakes and you can actually find water in various lakes depending upon the season of your trek and all of them are interconnected. Camp at the beautiful campsite near the first lake.

Day 7- Satsar to Gangabal Twin Lakes. ( Height 12,000 feet to 11,500 feet| Distance 9 KM)

Today is a tough day and be prepared for a long arduous trek through the rocky terrain full of boulders. Crossing last Lake of Satsar we will start descending towards Gangabal our today’s destination.

Day 8-Gangabal to Naranag. ( Height 12,000 feet to 11,500 feet, Distance 11KM & Four Wheeler Drive)

Today is the last and final day of Kashmir Great Lakes trek, you must be tired and exhausted. Start trekking towards the tree line alongside the stream and then through Pine forest and grassy land to reach our final destination of Naranag where our jeeps would be waiting for us.

Your trek fee includes

  • 1. Accommodation – Stay from Day 1 to Day 7 (Sonamarg to Gangabal). ( Homestay/ Hotel/Tent sharing basis).
  • 2. Meals – Breakfast, Lunch, & Dinner. We provide simple, nutritious vegetarian food on all days.
  • 3. Transport -Srinagar Pick up and drop.
  • 4. Camping charges – All camping charges are included.
  • 5. Experienced Guide.
  • 6. Trekking equipment – Sanitised Tents, sleeping bags, Sleeping mats, Crampons & Gaiters (if required).
  • 7. Safety equipment – First aid, medical kit, Oxygen Cylinder & Oximeters will be available at campsite to deal with emergencies.
  • 8. Helper Staff.
  • 9. Sanitary – Dry-toilet with camp on trek, Sanitizer, Handwash.
  • 10. Free Parking for Private Vehicle.

Your trek fee does not include

  • 1. Meals – For Non-Veg food prior intimation will be required on pay basis.(4 days prior to trek booking intimation required)
  • 2. Backpack offloading charges.
  • 3. Anything apart from inclusions.
  • 4. Any kind of personal expenses.
  • 5. Any kind of Insurance.
  • 6. Mules or porter to carry personal luggage.
  • 7. Any kind of emergency evacuation charges.
  • 8. Anything not specifically mentioned under the head.
